Beautiful traditional winery situated just below Bonnieux. Where Ridley Scott’s ‘A Good Year’ was partly filmed! Located at the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, between Avignon and Aix en Provence, Château la Canorgue is a family-owned estate. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the successive generations it has remained in the family for more than 200 years.
Forming part of the prestigious hotel La Coquillade within a few kilometres of the Ventoux mountain known as the ‘giant of Provence’ and at the very heart of the Luberon Region Natural Park, the Aureto wines are some of the most reputed of the local vineyards. Surrounded by lavender, cypress trees and Roman-tiled mas houses, the vines flourish in the ideal Mediterranean climate. In the vicinity of La Bastide de Marie between Menerbes and Bonnieux, discover the beautiful Domaine de Marie wine cellars where you can visit the winery, followed by a tasting of reds, whites and rosés. Jean-Louis Sibuet, the owner, bought the Domaine in 2000 and undertook the redevelopment of the vineyard. “The old noble grape varieties such as Grenache and Syrah have been conserved while the lower quality ones were removed and replaced by new ones such as Roussanne, Vermantino, Cinsault and Mourvedre. Family estate of 30 hectares located in the town of Cabrières d’Avignon, backed by the southern foothills of the Monts de Vaucluse. This vineyard is in protected designation of origin “Ventoux”. The Marreau family has owned the estate since 1850. Particularly delicious white wine – Les Gres!
Modern and lively Domaine situatued outside Gordes on the route to Avignon and Isle sur la Sorgue. As well as tastings they organise evenings – usually Thursdays – in the courtyard with music and local tapas to sample along with their wines. Fun evening.
